It is very common for teachers to recieve help when making up lesson plans. There are so many places that they can get help from, but teachers normally find it by going online. It is so easy because there are so many "teacher help" websites. It is hard to come up with lesson plans to use for an entire year, so going on the web to find more activities and projects would help out a lot.

Search Directories

Search Directories have their advantages and disadvantages. They are good because they are edited by people, which means that more relevant information is found when using them and come up with less hits. The problem is that because they are edited by people, they tend to be more biased on certain subjects. Plus they are not updated as much and you may not find the information you are looking for.

Search Engines

Search Engines can be very useful for students. They are able to find information on virtually any subject they want. The downside though is that seach engines are controlled using spiders, which means that you will not always get relevant information. Search engines also do not correct the mistakes, so when using them, you should verify that everything is correct.

Online Communication

Online Communication is a very convenient tool that can be used within a classroom. It can be used to help students with an out of school assignment. Students would be able to communicate with each other and help each other out. Some of the online communicational tools are instant messenger or skype. Instant messengers are used to have a conversation online by sending messages back and forth in seconds to your friends and skype can be used to see and talk to someone through a computer using a webcam.

Keeping Students Up To Date

Keeping students up to date is very important because students need to be aware of what is going on in the world around them. They are there to learn and if they are not learning about current events at home, then they should be learning about them in school. One way for students to be informed of current events is for teachers to record the news or they could have the students bring in a couple of articles a week, either from a newspaper or from the internet. However, they should make sure that it is a reliable source by getting the articles from an online newspaper or something like that.

Educational Games

Games are a very important part of education because it is a fun way for students to learn. Many students learn better if they are able to play a game because they pay attention better. For example if students play a game like jeopardy right before a test, they are able to review and have fun at the same time. Also, many of these games can use technology. For example, there is a game called Jeopardy Powerpoint. There are also many more games that use technology.

Search Tools in the Field of Education

Search Tools are very commonly used in the field of education and plays an important role. Students use them to do research for a project, to find the definitions of unknown words, or just to look up something they want to learn more about. They can be very usefuland are very important.

Video Games in the Classroom

I believe that video games would help students learn more information in the classroom because they can get the students attention and keep it. Many students get bored while reading or listening to lecture and lose focus rather quickly. Using educational and appropriate video games in the classroom would be a good thing to include in lesson plans. I do however think that if a game is too educational, then students may not like it. They have to have a good balance between the educational value and the level of fun.

Appropriate Websites in the Classroom

As teachers we are responsible for what goes on in the classroom. We need to know what our students are looking at while they are surfing the internet. We should have blocks on websites that may be innapropriate for students to be on while at school because then we will have a little more control over what students are looking at while using school computers.

Internet Safety

Safety within the classroom is very important. As teachers we should make sure that while letting our students use the internet, they stay safe. It could be very dangerous for students if they go into a chat room or anything like that. Many students do not understand how unsafe it could be to give out any of their personal information like their name, address, or phone number. If we are working with a lot of younger kids, then we should try to only use secure websites that we know are safe or have blocks on certain websites that could be dangerous.

SMART Boards in the Classroom

Although expensive, SMART boards can come in handy in the classroom. They are able to get students more involved because children want to volunteer to come up to the board and give their answer. Many believe that it is more fun to write on a SMART board than it is to write on a chalk board or white board. Studies have shown that SMART boards have a positive impact on both teaching and learning. It evolves how teachers teach their lessons and the students are able to understand what is being taught to them better.

Technology Within the Field of Education

Technology can be a very complicated thing. It is used a lot within the field of education. When I was younger I never realized how much technology my previous teachers used. Everytime they typed up a document for us, created a powerpoint for us to watch, or even when they researched something over the internet to show us, they were using technology. Even as students we used technology. Without technology, the field of Education would be completely different.
